I expected the first 2 to drop dead when they plucked the final petal, so it was fun to see that they had to wait for the unexpected answer. There is profound wisdom in nurturing the longevity of the blue tulip!
It's always the third one in these stories who doesn't take some obviously flawed approach. Messing with a flower that's going to foretell your death does not sound like a good idea, glad the widow had some sense in her. Sorry to hear about the health issues.
